Singing hymns to Mother Russia, the simple peasant soldiers in Russian regiments had unwavering faith in their Tzar and a strong belief in the bayonet due to their lack of musketry skills and outdated weapons. While the Russian army had a vast pool of manpower, the individual soldiers were generally poorly trained, equipped, and led. However, their bravery was undeniable, as they had faced hardships and sacrifices in warfare against the Ottoman Empire for many years.

Containing 27 plastic Russian Infantry figures and a sheet of full-color flags, this set allows you to paint the figures as either line or light infantry. Black Powder, a tabletop combat game developed by Warlord Games, covers nearly 300 years of history, focusing on warfare characterized by muskets and cannons powered by gunpowder. Players can reenact pivotal battles from the Napoleonic Wars to the American Revolution to the Civil War to the Plain Wars and more, using dice, troops, and game rules against one or multiple opponents.

Each brigade in the game is led by a single commander, giving players the option to move the entire brigade as a unit or give individual units specific orders. Verbal commands are agreed upon by both players each turn, with movement determined by these commands and the roll of the dice. Designed for play on large tabletops, such as a pool table, and accommodating multiple players, Black Powder was originally intended to be a club game. Infantry units can move 12 inches per turn, while Cavalry can move 18 inches, requiring players to have measuring tape on hand for game play.
