During the 1815 Hundred Days campaign, the 2nd British heavy cavalry brigade comprising three elite heavy dragoon regiments played a crucial role at Waterloo. They successfully smashed the massive attack columns of d'Erlon's corps, causing chaos among the French infantry and capturing or killing thousands of soldiers. Not satisfied with their initial success, they continued to disrupt the French gun line until they were pushed back with heavy losses by vengeful French horsemen.

Known as the Union Brigade, this force consisted of the 1st Royal Regiment of Dragoons, the 2nd Regiment of Dragoons (Royal Scots Greys), and the 6th Dragoons (the Inniskillens from Ireland). Clad in red and mounted on large, aggressive horses, they were considered the cream of the crop during that era. The box set includes 12 plastic British Union Brigade heavy cavalry miniatures, as well as two metal command miniatures with options for different headwear.

Black Powder, a tabletop combat game developed by Warlord Games, allows players to recreate historic battles from the Napoleonic Wars to various other conflicts spanning almost 300 years. Using dice, troops, and a set of rules, players can engage in strategic warfare against one another.

Each brigade is led by a commander, and players can choose to move their entire brigade at once or issue individual orders to different units. Verbal commands are agreed upon by both players before the dice are rolled to determine movement.

Designed for large tabletops like pool tables, Black Powder was originally intended for multiplayer club games. Infantry units can move 12 inches, while cavalry can move 18 inches per turn. Players will need a measuring tape for accurate movement.

With an emphasis on building, painting, and playing with detailed miniatures, Black Powder offers a complete gaming experience that can be enjoyed by players of all skill levels. Watching your painted models come to life on the battlefield adds an extra level of enjoyment to the game itself.
