George Washington, having served in the Crown forces against the French, was well aware of the tactics used by British regulars in combat. Knowing that his militias and Minutemen, while courageous, would not be able to withstand the Redcoat regulars, he made the decision to establish a well-drilled regular force known as the Continental army. By employing a European style of massed ranks, Washington combined these regiments with Militia units to create a strong and effective fighting force that could hold their ground against the British soldiers. Ultimately, it was these well-trained regulars that played a pivotal role in securing victory for the Americans. The set includes 30 plastic Continental Army infantry, consisting of 24 musketeers with a command group including two officers, a drummer, a Sergeant, and two ensigns, as well as 6 Light Infantry. Additionally, a 4-page background guide featuring eight full-color flags is included.

Black Powder, a tabletop combat game developed by Warlord Games, allows players to reenact significant battles throughout history using dice, troops, and rules spanning nearly 300 years of warfare dominated by muskets and cannons powered by gunpowder. Each brigade is led by a single commander, with players able to move their entire brigade together or issue individual orders to specific units. Verbal commands are agreed upon by both players each turn, leading to movement based on these commands and the results of dice rolls.

Designed for play on large tabletops, such as a pool table, Black Powder is ideal for multiplayer games with multiple participants. Originally intended as a club game, standard movement distances are set at 12 inches for infantry and 18 inches for Cavalry. Players will need a measuring tape for accurate movement, as they are not provided with the game.
