Some cavalry units utilized modern tactics while others adhered to traditional methods, like the Duke of Marlborough's cavalry, who were instructed to charge boldly with swords drawn for maximum impact. Within this set, you will find all the elements needed to recreate various cavalry squadrons that fought for Louis XIV. Each box allows you to assemble a 12-person squadron, including nine cavalrymen, one standard bearer, one bugler, and one officer. The assortment of heads and bodies enables you to depict a range of cavalry types, personalize your army, and make each unit distinct. The kit includes standard cavalry bodies, which can be paired with tricorne heads for line cavalry. Additionally, there are bodies with cuirass for heavier cavalry, who may sport tricornes or the heavy "Lobster Pot" design. Musket accessories are provided for representing Dragoons, a troop type often overlooked. Grenadier heads allow for modeling elite Horse Grenadier squadrons and the early French Grenadier à Cheval. Sword and pistol arms are included for deciding on the cavalry's tactics - pistols at the trot or swords in a headlong charge.
The set features 12 plastic cavalry miniatures with an officer, bugler, and optional standard bearer. Options for cuirassiers, dragoons, horse grenadiers, and line cavalry regiments. A 4-page background and construction leaflet with eight full-color flags/guidons are also included.
From the Napoleonic Wars to the Civil War to the Plains Wars and beyond, Black Powder covers a vast period in history spanning nearly 300 years, characterized by muskets and cannons powered solely by gunpowder. Engage in historical battles using dice, troops, and rules developed by Warlord Games against one or multiple opponents on a tabletop battlefield. Each brigade is led by a commander, allowing for collective movement or individual unit orders based on verbal commands agreed upon by both players and dice rolls. Designed for play on large tabletops, like pool tables, and accommodating multiplayer games, Black Powder was originally intended as a club activity. The standard movement is 12 inches for infantry and 18 inches for cavalry. Players will need a measuring tape as they are not provided. Assemble, paint, and enjoy playing – constructing and painting the models is equally enjoyable to gameplay!
